Dr. Rupak Dua is currently working as an Associate Professor in the Department of Chemical Engineering in the School of Engineering and Technology at Hampton University. Dr. Dua graduated with a Ph.D. (2014) in Biomedical Engineering from Florida International University located in Miami, FL. He then worked for two (2) years as a Postdoctoral Fellow at the Institute of Orthopedic Research and Education located in Houston, TX. Before joining Hampton University, Dr. Dua was working as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Chemistry at Hampden-Sydney College located in Hampden-Sydney, VA where he was teaching full time along with supervising undergraduates on clinically-translated research projects.

His current research is focused on improving or aiding in finding solutions for the musculoskeletal system disorders that still exists clinically by means of biomimetics, chemical, and tissue engineering approaches. He has published numerous high-quality manuscripts in peer-reviewed scientific journals, authored book chapters and has presented his research work in numerous national & international scientific conferences. He has also won several international and national awards. He has been an active leader in promoting STEM fields and has chaired several sessions on scientific ethics at national conferences. He has been a reviewer for many scientific journals and has been a member of many professional societies including Sigma Xi, Orthopedic Research Society, Biomedical Engineering Society, Tissue Engineering & Regenerative Medicine International Society.
